Writing is Imagination in Flight

About Me

My photo
Ruth J. Hartman spends her days herding cats, and her nights spinning mysterious romantic tales that make you smile and laugh out loud - or so she's been told my readers! She, her husband Garry, and their two cats, love to spend time curled up in their recliners watching old Cary Grant movies. Well, the cats, Roxy and Remmie, sit in the people's recliners. Not that the cats couldn't get their own furniture. They just choose to shed on someone else's. You know how selfish those little furry creatures can be.

New Year - New Possibilities

I'm not a huge believer in resolutions. At least not just for the new year. If I'm going to change something, I need to make it an ongoing, life changing goal. So, instead of resolutions, which I rarely keep, I like to think of it as new possibilities.

In 2008, I was fortunate enough to have my first book published. I wasn't sure I had another book in me after that, but was pleased to discover, I did! What followed were several sweet, funny romances. I had a ball writing those. And there's more to come. Because I enjoy writing them so much, I can't seem to stop :)

I've also had published my first children's book. Not only did I get to write the story, I illustrated it, too. Now that was fun! I always liked to color and draw as a kid. Some things never change, apparently. As I planned, sketched and used my colored pencils, my story of a kitten born without paw-pads came to life.

There's always a letdown after a book is published. It's like looking forward to a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. You plan. You dream. You eagerly await the day when you step on the plane that will whisk you away to your dream destination. Then, all to quickly, it's over.

That's why I feel so blessed to have more than one book in me. When one book is finished, I can move onto the next. And hopefully, will have learned enough from the experience that the following one will be better.

So this new year brings new possibilities. And new stories to tell. New illustrations to draw. New people to entertain.

I , for one, am really looking forward to that!

Have a Blessed New Year!

A positive attitude makes a lot of difference. I tell my kids you're already defeated if you don't believe you can do it. But you can do it, so say you can and believe it! This is going to be a great year!

Ruth, it is wonderful that you are following your passion of writing. I believe that a true writer has unlimited books within them that are just waiting to come out and be shared with the world. I am a writer myself, I have written a novel on love and relationships and a children's book on acceptance and tolerance. I am currently working on a variety of projects. I have just started a blog on blogger.com also, Confessions of a Disheartened Mother @ www.amothersconfessions.com. I would like for you to check it out. Keep up the great work and I look forward to getting to know you.
